Trelike's Dragonscale Wrap, done up "G-Style"

Master Rod Crafter Jim Trelikes taught me this wrap. It is very nice, and looks even more "scaly" in person. Jim is publishing an article next month on how to do this in Kevin's Magazine, so pls. check it out! -- Edited by Capt G on Wednesday 12th of January 2011 05:15:17 PM

I know what the "C" and the "K" stand for, but what about the "W"?
(Preview)
This is what I call an "X" in CKW. Base is a regular three thread Size A base, well burnished. I then coat with epoxy. Then I wrapped on Electra Red Gudebrod in a simple "X" , and trimmed with one stand of size E Wine colored nylon (this is the part that almost looks like Trimar). Coat w...

Colby Kaleidescope Wraps (CKW's)
(Preview)
We all know of them. Most of us like them. The are easy as sin is to commit. Here are a few that are not too bad, considering that Capt. G did them. Peach out.

Obviously I was not following directions very well. The pattern is from Billy V's book. But its a cool looking pattern none the less. The marbelizer is an automotive application.

AllStar blank spinning rod
(Preview)
I'm still not done with this spinning rod but got most of the work out of the way now. Sometimes I just can't make a decision about a rod to save my butt! lol Did the 2 catfish weaves a few weeks ago and I finally got the cross-wrap and LM Bass weave done.

Happy 4th of July Everyone!

I thought you guys might like to see our new thread. It's just the tip of the iceberg yet to come. Emblem diamond wrap
(Preview)
It's been a while since I've done much thread work other than weaves so I fingered I should brush up. A client asked If I could do something special on a rod for his wife who is in the Army Signal Corps and is overseas. I'll be doing a weave of the Corps emblem and I had an idea for a crosswrap along the same line...

Copperhead for a Cousin
(Preview)
This is a 6'8" medium action, with Berkley guides on a Janns blank. It is perfectly balanced with a 9oz. reel. The striped wood is zebrawood and the trim rings are bloodwood. The copperhead came from MaryLou.

Floro Tiger
(Preview)
I saw a mono wrap that Alan did and thought I'd give it a try. It makes you dizzy looking at it. The pics don't do the florocarbon wrap justice. The handle is a custom ACS. The trimring is off an old American Rodsmith rod

Butterfly wrap
(Preview)
I did this wrap this morning and it just doesn't seem right. Should I make it a closed wrap or trim it with another color besides the burgundy? It is basicly going to be a burgundy themed rod. The RFS weave is going to stay and I plan to wrap the guides with burgundy and sunburst. Do I need to cut it off and star...

Three layer four thread tigers with stickers.

Experiment I did with a 3 layer 4 thread tiger and stickers. Of course the pictures are no where near as good as the real thing but it give you an idea of what you can get with this combo. Very old school for me.

Most of this stuff is really dated. Some back as far as the late 60s. I did my share of cross wraps long before any books or sharing went on in this industry. Only thing older than this is CAVE PAINTINGS and I refuse to show ya'll my work in that area. LOL Heck some of this stuff might have to be carbon dat...
