Yesterday the Brazoria County Cavalry came out to honor my SIL Major Jason Lewallen and to my surprise I was honored for my Viet Nam service. I thought I was being pretty smart setting this up for my SIL but my daughter pulled a fast one on me and asked them to honor me as well. I was given a Texas flag that had flown over the State Capitol Buikding, a medallion that gets me free entry into the Brazoria County Fair for life, a welcome home/ service medal, free meals at area restaurants, and free admission to area attractions and events. I also presented a rod to my SIL. He is a highly decorated officer and soon will be going to Afghanistan. He served in Somalia and Iraq earning meritorios service awards in both campaigns. I have told the Brazoria County Cavalry for any soldier that met our criteria of being wounded or decorated that the Texas Rod Buiilders would provide them a rod. I am going to try to provided a rod for as many of the soldiers that they honor as I can. If they do not meet our criteria I will pay for it myself. Pat
congratulations Pat, to you and your SIL, I (we) appreciate your service to our country and any rod you build for our soldiers should be covered by the club and if not I will chip in to cover some of the cost.
the honors bestowed upon you and your SIL are well deserved
Congrats Pat! Glad to see you getting honored yourself for everything you have done! Awesome on all the free goodies too...it reassures you that there are alot of folks that want to say thanks!
