Color preserver

Hello guy's and gals,
This is the first time I've posted on this board since the rodrack.
I would like to get some opinions on Gudebrod's Nylon Med. Green. CP or no CP? If you think it needs CP which should I use, the Flex coat milk, or Casons water based? I have only used this color a few times and used the milk, but every time I use it I tell myself "I bet I dont need CP on this color". But too scared to not use CP.
So what do yall think?
Thanks in advance,
John

Welcome aboard John.
It all depends on what effect you are looking for and whether it is NCP thread or not. I personally us CP every time. I choose colors that look good together and I don't want that to change once the finish is applied. However if you prefer the translucent look don't use it.
CVason's Crystal Clear is the best CP I have ever found. I use mostly the solvent based formula but the waterbased formula works very well also.

Welcome to the Forum John!

Another vote here for Cason's Crystal Clear C.P..

I completely understand your being chicken to do something unprooven on a rod. Nobody likes to re-do if the outcome isn't what was thought.

You can however, remove the "not knowing" by making a test stick. Use a piece of scrap or wood dowling and wrap 2 half inch wraps in the colors you use most. Pack them tight & then CP one and epoxy both. You'll know what the CP will do and you'll know what that thread will look like without CP. No more "not knowing"!

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll go ahead and use CP. I guess I was just trying to be lazy and wanted someone to say "yea go ahead you dont need CP on med. green" lol. I'm gonna try the Cason's water base. I see yall like the solvent but I'm gonna give the water base a try since thats all I have in that brand. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks again,
John
