Bizzar Foods

OK, according to Andrew Simmern "Bizzar Foods" one of the foods to wrap your chops around while in Texas is Javolina or "skunk pig".

What other weired & wonderful food fair should one definately sink ones teeth into that can only be found down yonder?

I'm originally from the Rio Grande Valley in deep south texas about 30 min. from the border of Mexico.... Barbacoa is mexican BBQ and it is best served with warm corn tortillas (in my opinion). Ray do you live in north or south California?

Oh and Javolina has to be cooked just right for it to taste any good..... It gets tough very easily. I personally have only had it good one time....and after a couple of times of it tasting like shoe leather I decided it wasn't for me....lol

yep had forgotten about calf brains and eggs, and dandylion salad, and the Javolina over an open "ground" pit with about 30 to so starving bikers drinking beer and waiting for it to have its first cut .

at that point ya dont care if tough as leather or not, ya just eat it, heheh - all though i do prefer
kabbrito over and above the wild pig.

oh and Raymond a few hours south of you and you can get some fair mexican food just over the border in Tijauna but drink the tequila and not the water, heheh - was stationed at Merced's Castle AFB for a while
