Bubbles in cured rod finish

Hey guys and gals,

Sorry to ask such silly question but I haven't had this happen yet. I put first coat of finish on deco wrap and used heat to remove bubbles but went to check on wrap and there are still bubbles in it (tiny bubbles). Can I wet sand or sand after it cures to remove bubbles. Any advise would be great

Thanks,

Trey <><

Probably can't sand all the small bubbles out unless they close to the surface. This time of year as temps are much cooler, I always heat the bottles of finish up in the microwave (20 seconds) before mixing. Problem I've found is if you mix the finish up first cold then hit with heat, it sometimes generates more bubbles.

Well, you can try sanding them out. Nothing to lose but most likely if you want it bubble-free you'll probably have to redo it.

Just stripped off the deco wrap.... I figured it would be less time consuming then sanding and I want it to look it best for the customer I'm making it for... Thanks for the info Randy. I will warm the finish just a little bit before I put it on the next deco.

you could always do a first coat that is thinned a bit so it would soak through and expel some of the air underneath the thread, then when dry slap a top coat on.

ha, listen to me sounding like i know what i am talking about , hahah
but really thats what i do most of the time.

I've never had a problem with this before.... I think it was because the finish was to cold. I warmed it like Randy said and it wasn't problem. Thanks again for you info Randy
