So Im in the process of building my first donation.
What Im curious about is do I claim it at my cost or what I would charge if sold to a client?
I feel like I made a mistake by telling the organization what the total cost would be if I sold it to a client

Just curious so I can report the taxes back accurately this quarter.

You can claim the value of the rod. If you would have sold it for $500 that is what they need to credit you for.
