Red and Gold ?

i was asked over the weekend if i would take a buddy's "old, old" rod and redo the eyes for him, its a inexpensive rod but he just loved it so i said yes.

the old boy is going through some tough times and i figured i'd use some of my existing thread and not charge him for it .

what other color would work with Red and Gold ? or Red and ? or Gold and ?
just fishing for simple color ideas , thanks

and yes i also posted it on 2 cool rod section as it seems that there i s not much traffic here any more.

HINT-HINT-HINT !

Terry i agree on your last statement. It seems like we have 4 or 5 that post fairly regular. As far as colors my wife tells me taste is in my mouth. With out seeing the colors in front of me it is hard. Maybe a gunmetal gray

How about purple, blue, teal, and lime green bands, with inlays of Hot Pink?

Or what wrong with a red base and gold trim bands?

1 004.jpgya know i know a picture is worth a thousand words.so
in the picture you notice spaces in the wrap, those spaces are silver foil glued to the blank and when they come off it takes off the black paint.

my question was trying to avoid repainting the rod but i still wanted to replicate the original wrap if possible.

oh and the red trim shown ( heheh) is red paint over the thread, heheh

thanks Doug, i had most of the bottom section of the 2 piece rod wrapped, but when i cp'ed it it turned a "baby diaper yellow instead of the gold i was looking for heheh.

so i am re wrapping it again in the met threads as you see in the above pic, i have found that doing a wrap from starting on the left to the right is easy and natural BUT trying to match it going from the right to the left ,i get it all messed up heheh.

oh well its a not professional doing it and the guy knows it and doesn't expect it to be.

but thanks for the comment and looking.
