Here's some of the muskies lures that I've done this year. They are wrapped in snake skin! They are all made from maple, are 8" and weight around 3 oz. I just recently started using taxidermy snake eyes on them and it has made a huge difference! I'll post some pictures of one of them tomorrow. It's on the drying rack but will be headed to Bullard International at the end of the week!
Raymond, only one is on it's way to Silvia, it's the one I have on the drying rack- it has light green alligator eyes. I'll post pictures of it tomorrow. I used D2 as the epoxy coating on it.
Terry, I sell them. I wasn't sure if they'd sell as well as my painted stuff but I had to try and so far so good. The reason I was not sure how well it would go is that the skin adds a bit of cost to them! (i'm sure you know that) I haven't seen anyone else doing this, but I'm sure I'm not the only one. The one that I'm sending to Silvia was finished in D2 and she wanted it just to show people the variety of things that can be done with D2.
Okay you stinker! You beat me to it. Well, I am still going to post when I get mine. What did I tell you about the response on these? Anyone can't help but like them. I will wait and let you post the pic's and when everyone gets to see those eyes they are really going to love them.
I have to admit I would never have thought of doing something like that. Jeremy has fantastic ideas and really pushes the envelope on creativity in this craft.
I love it!!! Carry on Jeremy!
Hey Terry, when I get it I will bring it by.

Here's another one I just finished up. It's 12" and made from western red cedar. It has 6 coats of Diamond 2 on it. I used the taxidermy alligator eyes again and the hardware is 1.5" .092" stainless eye screws. It will have three Mustad 3551 Muskie trebles on it in size 7. The total weight is around 7oz. It swims in the 5'-10' range.
Doug, thanks for the compliment. It's a big lure, but the guy I built it for specified a 12" lure- he's after huge muskies. I'd have a hard time catching anything on that one. Believe it or not, I've caught several largemouth and smallmouth bass on these big lures (my 8" versions). I'm not sure what it is, but they love them.
Silvia, thanks so much! I really enjoyed doing your lure- my first with the taxidermy eyes. The seam on the bottom came out so nice that I didn't have to paint over it. It's quite a bit more difficult to wrap a lure than it is to wrap a rod in snake skin. Most lures don't come out nice enough to leave the seam exposed.
Thanks for the compliments. I love the unique look that snake skin gives to a lure. It was a natural progression for me from rods to lures. It is fun and challenging to do!
