ok when i removed the first screw up i scratched the blank in several placed (blame it on bad eyes and poor lighting and old shakie hands).
so i took some bright gold thread and did an underwrap then i put the eye on with the silk thread, it looked dang nice (well my kind of beginner nice any way).
then i took the epoxy and mixed it and then added the denatured alcohol mixed more and went to town.
i forgot to "CP" the underwrap and when i applied the thinned epoxy it went translucent along with the silk thread. if you look real close you can see through both on to the rod blank.
at this point i am about ready to put this scrimshaw rod in the closet for a long while and just go fishing or back to my drawing.

Naw, don't get discouraged and hang it up Terry! Trial and error is part of what we all do... that's one of the best things about this forum - the sharing of ideas to help one another. Sometimes it helps to make yourself a short check list before beginning a project - especially a complex one you've never tried before - to keep in front of you while you work. I'll do a tutorial on it for you if you think that may help.
Sometimes we all have to get away from the rod bench. Note: I said, get away NOT walk away.
If it ain't fun don't force yourself to do it. It's only a fishing rod and it ain't going no where.
That said, when I complete a project that has been a nightmare with a bench full of Gremlins and even though had to do some things multiple times before it was right and becoming so frustrated I could scream, I get such a feeling of accomplishment that maybe the Gremlins were worth it.
I probably wouldn't go thru the aggravation of polishing the guide feet. I just thought that might have been your intention when I made my guess. Sure would be a nice touch though if I had the skills with metal to do it!
hehe well remember i am trying to build the few rods on a very tight budget, like real tight.
anyway the eyes i got were at a very reasonable price and after getting them home and comparing them to the blank the eyes on the back double side were way to big for the blank and needed to be cut down.
then i just had to trim the rest down, but i'll endeavor to POLISH them down for ya ( big grin)
