The power wrapper just makes a bit quicker..... but on a weave I wouldn't think by very much. Considering your moving thread back and forth, and placing spiral wraps over and under the thread you move

The reason I ask is because you can keep dead stop your rod with a powerwrapper where as you cannot doing it with a hand wrapper, or am I wrong about that.
Power is of no use when doing weaves except for the fact that the rod is locked in a chuck and cannot slide left or right. All the thread work is done slowly and turned by hand though & I often use my hand wrappers for weaving so my rod lathe is free for other rod work. A weave can unnecessarily tie up my power wrapper for a long time!
I have seen folks attach a big rubber band to the hand wrapper over the rod to keep a bit of tension on the rod if needed. But I did many weaves on my hand wrapper just using the velcro strap provided to keep the rod still.
