Here's a couple that I was finally able to finish. I saw one of Scott Throop's roller spin rods at either the Fred Hall Show or the West Coast Rod Show (don't recall which one) and really wanted to build one (or 2). I'm in the minority of West Coasters that actually like to spin fish, lol. I tried several different guide configurations while static testing and Scott's layout was certainly the best. Three Batson ring guides and four Neptune rollers allowed for the best line path. I know Scott built one of his on a GF700H but I chose the Calstar fiberglass blanks for a "softer" feel. Anyways, fun builds because there are quite different. Batson Easy-Tight reel seats, hypalon grips, matching gimbal. Madeira underwraps, silver metallic electra trims and Roosterfish and Sailfish paintings by Matt Kotch. The Sail was the first one of those that Matt has painted and this one was done on waterslide decal paper. Blank painted by my friend Pat in a Black Cherry Candy. The pictured Accurate Twin Spin 30L will be used on the 610H while a matching Twin Spin 20 will go on the 610. My own personal rods that I am hoping to give a workout this summer on some Yellowfin and Dorado.
Randy- These rods are fantastic... I had never even thought of doing rollers on a spinning rod... Blank color, finish, and custom painted decals... all look really really good!!! That's a mean looking reel too!!!

What is Matt getting for the painted waterslides? Perfect idead that is too! I have a rod that he painted but decals sure would save on shipping & down time.
Ray, I don't know what he's charging for them. The Sail was the first Sailfish he's ever painted and it's the first painting on a waterslide decal. Shoot him an email. I also did a short tutorial for him on the application process and I think he as going to include that with any that he sends out.
