I've got mono (wrap)

I've been trying to figure out what to do on the split grip for this rod I am finishing up. I tried a red tiger wrap, but it didn't "pop" like I wanted. I tore it off and saw the mono wrap tutorial and decided to give it a try. I wanted it to complement and blend in with the grip, so I just went with a simple black and white thread pattern. If more brighter colors were used, I can only imagine how awesome the wrap will be. The wrap itself was easy to do, but the results turned out great. The pics don't really show how much the kaleidoscope effect brings as you look at it from different angles. My wife told me-I don't know how you did that, but its cool. Thanks to those who posted the tutorial, no matter who was the first to do this wrap. The rest of this rod has spiral wrapped titanium micro guides with vintage holland thread. The reel seat is a minima spinning reel seat even though it will be a casting rod. The thinking with that is that the reel will be easier to palm with no trigger. I like the feel of this rod in some preliminary practice use and can't wait to put it to use next week in POC. Tight lines fells.

Just black and white with 20 lb. mono. I think it blends in well with the grip. There is a lot of potential with this wrap to do some amazing stuff with multiple colors. My only concern is how it will hold up over time. I haven't decided what to go over the mono with. Kyle recommended permagloss. Might give that a try. For the moment I am just going to spray it with a marine protectant as suggested and see how it holds up. I'll let ya'll know.

I forgot to add that I won this blank as a door prize from last year's rod builder event at FTU. Big ups to FTU for doing that! It is a sharp looking blank and free is the right price!
