well, its ready to go test out with a fish on the line.
here is just a quick shot, but just before i left for the meeting today (jan 30) i put the flex coat on the Ferrule wrap , not shown here but she is done .

so what ya think , do i have a chance at making a good "rod Smith"?cross2001a.gif

Terry, what I can see looks great, you just need to show more of it. Didn't I read it was a spin/fly combo or something? I love to see it.

Jerry, yes my "class project" was a fly rod, i like fishing with one and yes i use a spinning reel on all of mine.

the rod gives sensitivity, the weight of the spinning reel gives a counter balance to the length of the rod. have had lot of people give me that funny look like "this fool is new to fishing", heheh.

but in reality i can fish all day and not have a arm or wrist even think about getting sore, and i normally just hold my rod with one finger because of the balance.

if ya ever get a chance to try a rig setup like that go for it.
p.s my avatar is me with a 38 lb black drum caught on my rig that no body could believe over off of 18 st pier.

i'll post a picture of my set up after bit and thanks for the comments.
