Sure would like to know, what you guys are charging for replacing guides ????.....Seems I am not charging enough...plus I'm picking up and delivering...
They charge $10 labor + retail guide cost at FTU. Joey removes the old guide and removes the thread back to a few wraps before the trim, then cuts it clean....replaces the guide with matching thread right up to the old trim band...epoxies...looks like new!
Simple guidewrap is $7.50 plus price of guide. However I do not pick up and deliver and I don't do it for a living. Any guide that is underwrapped, has single thread inlays, or is a guide that I do not keep in stock is $15. Pat
Well, I just received a phone call from the tackle shop owner asking me why I charged him $12.50 for each rod, to replace the guides on four rods..???....( One guide on each rod)...I told him that was labor, the new guides and that I should have charged him $10.00 more for delivery !!
I told him if he did not like my prices, to get someone else to do his repairs !!..And I hung up on him... Maybe I need to read that book.."How to Win friends and Influence People !!"... All I can say is Good Ridance !!..
That's exactly why I rarely do repairs. I'll make an exception if it's either family, friends or good customers but that's it. I did some work for a local shop in the past and it really was nothing but a headache. Didn't make much money and I had to "explain" my pricing. Never again.
