O.K Guys..... I know this subject has been cussed' and discussed....BUT...I have a rod tip that absoleutly will not turn loose !! It is on a older AllStar and I have tried the proved methods...BUT...I am afraid I am going to damaged the tip...so I am going to return the rod to the owner..any suggestions ???
Also wanted to ask, what you fellow rodbuilders are charging on the average for labor ???
Hope everyone is staying cool...it was 107 here in Weatherford, yesterday !!
Good moring ML, just watching the weather go by and thought I check out and see what's happing in cyber space.
I've had a couple of those TT's that just refuse to turn loose. I have a small eye bolt screwed into the end of my wrapping table with the loop opened just enough to allow the TT ring to be hooked into the eye. I use a lighter to heat the TT tube while pulling the rod straight away from the eye bolt.
If that doesn't work, then I contact the owner and inform them of the situation. I tell them I can cut the rod tip at the end of the TT tube and then replace it. I also explain it may change the action of the rod slightly, but before doing so I want them to make the call.
Most times they say go for it, and end up not being able to notice much of a change at all. Some have even said, they liked the change in the action. But, It's their call!
Hey Doug.... Thanks for that information.....I called the owner and told him about the tip and he said to go ahead and just cut it off....problem solved !! Hope we get some of that "weather" up this way in the form of rain... ML....
