Hey guys, Got an idea for education........I am compiling a list of fishing clubs in Texas (all types). I would like for some of us to go to the clubs with an invitation of course, and speak to them on custom rod building. Maybe put on a brief demo and find out if there would be any intrest in a more in depth class.
Trisha and I are able to travel a great deal (in other words we don't have jobs). It would be a lot of fun to go thru Texas and talk to fisherman about rod building. I think this would be a way we could advace our craft......and have a lot of fun to boot.
ETHHICAL CONCERN THAT THE SPEAKERS AT THE CLUBS SHOULD NOT TAKE ORDERS FOR RODS........ BUT WE COULD PASS IT ON TO OTHERS......I WOULD LIKE THE FEEDBACK ON THIS AS WELL....
I need all the feedback and ideas all of the good minds out there have.....We should make ourselves available for the smaller clubs as well as the better known clubs......

That sounds like a great target audience for the recruitment of new builders. I'll bet a lot of fisherman with enough interest to belong to a fishing club, would possibly be interested in learning about rodbuilding. It would be nice to figure a way to reach out to anglers that have always said "Some day I'm gonna try that" or "I'd like to learn that". You know they're out there. I was one before I started building..... Sounds like a good idea to me John
Sounds great. Even if someone did not want to build rods they are probably curious as to how we do it. I would be willing to teach a class sometime. Pat
