Bass in Japan

Hi All, here are a few pics of Largemouth Black Bass from my home lake, Lake Biwa.
We are poor (spend all our money on fish'n and tackle), so we can only fish from the shore, mostly after work, at night.
But most of the largest bass are caught during the day, when we are slaving away.
Texas is synonymous with big bass, so I know you anglers can appreciate what it takes to hunt down a big bass.  All our bass are released, legally.

Lordamercy.... There's a world record somewhere in that lake... I didn't think there was such a thing as legal catch and release over there! That last one is Godzilla incarnate.

This is a pic of the fish at the top of the IGFA (world record) list right now.
Several larger fish have been taken out of the lake, that did not qualify as rod and reel IGFA catches.

It is illegal for approximately 99.99 percent of anglers to practice catch and release at Lake Biwa; I am one of the very few that can.
I believe in catch and release, as do most Japanese anglers.

I may go to Biwa tonight; I would be very happy just to land a five pounder!

Man, that last pic you posted looks like it could contend for the record... do you have a weight on that one? If I ever get over to Japan, I'm looking you up!! It's crazy that Japanese anglers are so into bass fishing, but it's illegal to release them... I guess it's more food for the smart fish!!
