Crazy Capt. G here. There is nothing more satisfying than catching a fish on a lure that your make by yourself. Add a custom rod that your made to the mix, and the experience becomes stupid good. I have been making lures since I was ten, and 35 years later, while not very good at it, I can still fool a fish now and then.
I started pouring plastic worms and grubs in the 70's, and then moved on to carving balsa lures, and even making some marlin lures.
For 15 years here in Japan I sold lures that I made, designed, or collaborated on. Although I no longer sell them, I still enjoy making my own lures. Here are pics of a few that I have "done".
The bottom pic is indeed "real"--it is a double of modest sized largemouth bass taken on a lure that I designed, by my buddy Dave. His PB, and 2nd PB bass, over 19 pounds worth, taken on a single cast! I get about two doubles per year on the big trout baits I fish, but none this large.
Captain I have seen some of your lures up close and even fingered them. They not only look like they would catch a fish, they feel like a fish. Of course the ones I saw were a little to large for sea trout. Pat
Too big for Texas Specs (I have caught sea trout/weakfish, are they the same?)--how is that even possible? Everything is BIGGER in Texas.
Terry, I feel bad I only had time to pour you and Silvia a few swimmies...Next time send her a package, I will include a few more (BIG) lures for you to try...
aw G ya dont need to do that but thanks for the "swimmies" that you did do for me, i'll be getting with Silvia this week sometime and will give ya a full report on how they do.
