Good Morning Mary Lou
You are up early this morning. Are you staying out of the heat?
I stay in my rodshop and try not to go outside to much.
Good coffee

And good morning to everyone, just had my 3rd cup.

Would of been here sooner, but had a 2Cool PM this morning from an individual who took offence to one of my posts concerning flounder gigging and the rights of those who choose to. It took awhile to answer.

No worries though, he's just one of those "holier than thou fisherman" that believes no one else has any rights but him and those that think like him, regardless of the regulations...

But, I'm back to rod building now!

Have a great one.....

Aw come on and share with us! Post up what the hoopla is! I am thinking about starting another croaker thread myself! Those things are funnier than a one armed paper hanger!

Most all you mention above was legal prior to the state regulating our resources. In other words THERE WERE NO LAWS against it! Once the State passed and started regulating these resources, those means of excessive harvest were quickly outlawed.

Gigging has been around a long time. If it was determined to be as harmful as the illegal methods you've tried to compare it to, it would have also been outlawed. But, it hasn't and is still a legal means of harvest.

As I said in my post, I don't gig, but as long as it is a legal means of harvest those that want to should and should be able to do so with out the rest of us berating them for it.

Since you've given no proof as to gigging being harmful to the flounder population, outside of "IT SUKS and ITS NOT REAL FISHING" Then I will have to assume this is only a personal and emotional issue with you. So it really does no good for me to argue this with you.

But, It's this sort of "HOLIER THAN THOUGH" mentality that will one day be our down fall as outdoorsmen. Those forces working against us love this sort of thing. DIVIDE AND CONQUER.

It's going on right now with the croaker soaker VS Arti's argument. CROAKER SOAKING AIN'T REAL FISHING! IF YOUR NOT FOOLING UM... YOU AIN'T FISHING...! How stupid is this argument.

By the way, I don't croaker soak either, but as with the gigging, as long as the State says it's legal, then if you choose to... GO FOR IT! I mean whats' next? NO SHRIMP.

One last thing, If it's proven that gigging is harmful to the flounder population, then I will be one of the first to support it's demise.

Thank you, for taking your time to contact me and while I fully support your right to your opinion, I also support my right to mine and the rights of anyone who chooses to legally enjoy the great outdoors.

Good points! Hats off to you for sticking up for yourself. I do get tired of the "what I do is OK, but your way sux" PETA is looking at any at anybody fishing is immoral so ther eis always a line drawn and everybody's line is in a different place!

Thanks for sharing!
