Feather inlays

There is no forum for inlays so I figured I'd post on the weave forum. Close enough to the same general idea. An image on a rod.....

I am thinking about trying my hand at a feather inlay on a casting rod I am working on. I have seen many pictures of builders doing feather inlays and have seen some really nice work. Does anyone know the best types of feathers to work with or is it just a "personal preference" issue? I am leaning to using only natural color feathers instead of ones that have been colored. Thanks.

I can't avise much as I haven't done much featherwork but I understand most use the same feathers one would tie the flies with. Grizzly hackle & Jungle **** are very popular with various Pheasent & Turkey too.

Here is a great source for feathers & advise. Kate is wonderful!

I also have a few tutorials on the subject of feather & bug inlays written by the best in the business! You can download them free at www.rodbuildingtutorials.com

the invisible wrap kicked my butt 3 times , i'll go real slow on this one !
