My work space....

Everyone I thought I'd post this up, before I change it. This is what my work space looks like right now, but in the next week or so I'm starting on my 10' work bench and buying a power wrapper...... Oh yeah!!!

Gonna post before and after pictures.

Paul,

For the work bench I'm building in the next couple of weeks... I found some florescent light fixtures at Wal-mart for $10 a piece... The bulbs for the fixtures were $10 as well. So for an 8 foot span to go across my 10 foot work bench it was only $40.... That the cheapest I have found them for.

Still working on it..... but this is what is looks like so far. I going to put a backing up where the two up rights are, and the two up rights are going to hold an 8 foot span of fluorescent lights.... I'm also gonna stain in red mahogany and seal.

I have 2 4ft florescent lights on my 12ft wrapping bench. I am thinking about putting two more side by aide to give me more light. What bulbs do you folks recommend?

I'm using the smaller bulbs 32v.... I've heard they runs cooler and they give a brighter light

I also like the small high intensity bulbs. Even my swing arm magnifying lamp has a high intensity floro in it. I know several guys that tie flies that use a led lamp that you can buy at Lowes or HD that they sell in the outdoor dept. I think its marketed for gas grills or something like that. And its very cheap. They're great for small intricate work.

Well, I finally made up my mind on the color of stain I wanted.... I'm gonna stain the work bench mahogany. Gonna start tonight and I post and updated pic when I'm done.

I use an Ott goose neck desk lamp directly over where Im working. One of my sisters found it on a closeout at Joanns fabric. Awesome lamp, but expensive at regular retail. Ive always used Vita color corrected fluorescent tubes at the office, but theyre really pricey. I recently ordered some color corrected tubes from a different source and will be getting them sometime this weekprice is much better than the Vita and the pitch is that theyre at least as good, but not as pricey. 30 yrs of closeup work has taught me that good light is very important to our eyes.

Not saying you HAVE to use expensive lighting, but your eyes will thank you for using something other than cool white...look for sales/closeouts on the good stuff.

Well,

I'm just about done with my work bench..... All I have to do now is put my "Pro Tackle" logo on the back wall of the work bench, coat with the Polycrylic finish, and hang my 2 4 foot fluorescent lights. Here is some pic of the project while it was in progress.

That is a great looking work bench. It sure makes a lot nicer when you have a good place to work. Now get in there and mess it up.
